Each problem determines it's own best starting time but the American Association of Orthodontists recommend that age 7 is a good time for the first Orthodontic visit, even earlier, if the problem is noted by either parent or the family Dentist.

Most problems are inherited and therefore cannot be prevented, however, early detection will minimize the problem.

Orthodontics can be done on children, teens and adults of all ages. The following signs may indicate that you or your child need to see an Orthodontic Specialist:

» thumb or finger sucking
» overlapping or crowding of erupting permanent teeth, broken or missing teeth
» difficult chewing
» mouth breathing
» jaws that tend to click, pop or be tender
» a developing underbite, overbite, crossbite or abnormal bite development
